Steve’s interest in the physical elements of the world, as well as light and sound are the essential inspiration for his sculptures. The sense of the magical that he feels in places that contain sacred space, and the way materials are used to hold that space most explains the starting point from which he begins his work. There is an inner listening or awareness that happens when creating, and when the inner message becomes clear for how to combine the materials the outcome is frequently unexpected.
Most of his sculptures have evolved around the elegance of floating them on the wall from a single metal hanger that is integrated into the back. The hanger protrudes much like a nail and requires a small nail hole to mount.
